8 Great Air Purifiers in Thailand 2024
by Karl von Luckwald / October 22, 2024
Finding the best air purifiers in Thailand isn’t easy.
I know what I am talking about. I have been through this process 6 years ago.
Back then, I was overwhelmed by hundreds of brands competing with each other on Shopee and Lazada. And I had so many questions.
I wondered:
I realized that I wasn’t alone. All my friends in Bangkok looking for air purifiers dealt with the same issues.
This made me dig deeper. After hours of research, I learned that the science behind air purifiers is super simple.
Air purifiers mainly consist of fans and HEPA filters. The fan pulls in dirty air, and the HEPA filter captures pollutants. It’s easy and not expensive.
Also, I figured out that the air purifier industry is crazy dishonest.
Many big brands conceal the simplicity of air purifiers because simplicity doesn’t bring profits.
Instead, they try to confuse consumers by doing the following
This didn’t feel right. And I saw an opportunity to do things differently.
I founded WEDO AIR to educate about air purifiers and distribute honest machines. No tricks. No Gimmicks.
But now to you.
You’ve come to this article because you’re most likely seeking orientation. You want to learn what air purifiers are the best for your needs.
In this text, I will introduce you to a bunch of good air cleaners and guide you through the buying process. I will
Transparency Note
I value transparency and want you to be able to make informed decisions.
This article mentions some air purifiers we sell. This makes me seem biased.
However, I want to help you decide based on what you need and understand, not just what ads or influencers say. I believe in being clear and helping you make your own choice.
If you want to dig deeper into the air purifier rabbit hole, I recommend reading our in-depth guide on how to choose the right air purifier.
In Short: What Are The Best Air Purifiers in Thailand?
For those short on time, check out these three air purifiers below.
These are simple and cost-effective machines that do everything you need to breathe clean air in Thailand.
All units are best-rated on Shopee and Lazada and are used by many businesses in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
Further in the article, you’ll find extensive reviews about these three and other units.
The Sqair Air Purifier
The Sqair is an affordable, simple, and no-frills air purifier suitable for rooms up to 40 sqm (430 sqft). Its HEPA filter captures 99.5% of all airborne particles and keeps you safe from air pollution in Thailand. It’s one of the best-selling and top-rated air purifiers on Lazada and Shopee.
Blast Mini Air Purifier
The Blast Mini is a great choice for rooms as big as 100 sqm (1080 sqft). Its HEPA filter catches 99.95% of all contaminants including PM2.5, pet dander, smoke, and viruses. A lot of offices and hospitals in Asia use the Blast Mini to make sure their spaces are clean and safe.
Blast Air Purifier
The Blast is the most powerful yet quietest air purifier in Thailand, suitable for large spaces up to 150 sqm (1615 sqft). With a noise level of just 43 dB, it’s hardly noticeable. Its large HEPA filter, effective for up to 20 months, captures 99.95% of airborne pollutants, making it a favorite in spacious homes, offices, and hospitals.
How Do Air Purifiers Work?
Okay, let’s quickly explain to you how air purifiers work.
First of all, air purifiers are simple machines. They mainly consist of a fan and a HEPA and Carbon filter. Both components are not expensive.
Big companies, however, don’t make profits with simplicity, that’s why many of them try to overwhelm consumers with misleading marketing and claims.
Most air cleaners, whether cheap or expensive, just work the same.
The fan sucks in dirty air and pushes it through the filter which traps pollutants.
Paying more doesn’t mean cleaner air. Buying expensive air purifiers often means paying for marketing and branding.
Tests have shown that homemade air purifiers can work better than branded ones costing thousands of dollars.
Air purifiers are simple machines consisting of fans and filters. Expensive air purifiers aren’t better air purifiers. Paying more often means paying for marketing and brand names.
How to Choose an Air Purifier in Thailand?
Let’s now focus on some key metrics to consider when choosing good air purifiers.
First of all, the concept of the “best air purifier” is subjective. It all boils down to whether an air purifier meets your needs or not.
So, let’s talk about your needs.
Room Size and CADR
You need an air cleaner that keeps up with your space. Otherwise, the air in your home will remain dirty.
Large rooms need stronger air purifiers than smaller rooms. Or at least more of them.
To find the right air purifier for your needs, look out for the CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) on the spec sheet.
The CADR rating is given in cubic meters per hour (m³/hr) or square feet per minute (sqft/min). It gives you an idea of how effectively and fast an air cleaner can purify the air in a given space.
The higher the CADR number, the stronger the air purifier.
Below, we’ve compiled a list of recommended Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADR) for different room sizes. This should help you to get more clarity.
For example, if your room size ranges between 25-35 sqm, you should look for air purifiers with a CADR between 200-300 m3/hr
Room Size m2 (sqft) | Recommended CADR (m3/hr) |
---|---|
5-15 (54-161 sqft) | 50-100 |
15-25 (161-269 sqft) | 100-200 |
25-35 (269-377 sqft) | 200-300 |
35-45 (377-484 sqft) | 300-400 |
45-60 (484-646 sqft) | 400-500 |
60-80 (646-861 sqft) | 500-600 |
80-90 (861-969 sqft) | 600-700 |
90-100 (969-1076 sqft) | 700-800 |
100-130 (1076-1399 sqft) | 800-900 |
130-160 (1399-1722 sqft) | 900-1000 |
To find an air purifier suitable for your room size check the CADR rating. The higher the CADR, the more effective the air purifier is at cleaning air quickly.
Noise
I recommend paying attention to noise levels.
Most brands love to brag about how their air purifiers are whisper-quiet.
However, they usually refer to the noise levels on the lowest fan speed.
When you crank them up to the highest setting – which you’ll likely do when smog hits – most air purifiers can get pretty loud.
So, be ready to deal with some noise.
If you’re someone who needs absolute quiet, there’s hope. The Blast and Blast Mini air purifiers are known for being the quietest on the market.
Price
Don’t get tricked by brands claiming that their expensive premium air purifiers are the only ones reliably working.
This is wrong and led to many lawsuits in the past.
As mentioned above, expensive air purifiers aren’t better air purifiers. In contrast, you’d be surprised to find some budget-friendly units outperforming those with a price tag of THB 30,000 and upwards.
In any case, check the cost of replacement filters before making a purchase.
Some brands significantly mark up their HEPA filters.
Other than that, don’t focus too much on the price. Check the data and pay attention to CADR and noise.

Smart Air – The Sqair
Strong performance, beautiful design
Well-known social enterprise Smart Air introduces “The Sqair,” an affordable yet robust air purifier.
It has a great CADR of 315 m³/hr that purifies the air in rooms as large as 40 sqm in just 25 minutes.
The Sqair’s eye-catching Scandinavian design is an added aesthetic bonus for any household.
With a keen focus on sustainability, Smart Air ensures that the Sqair’s wooden legs come from European sustainable forests.
Furthermore, the packaging is made from cardboard and is 100% plastic-free.
In alignment with their mission for cleaner air, they funnel 100% of profits back into the mission, funding free workshops and product testing.
Simple To Use, Safe for Kids
The Sqair is quick to set up and simple to operate, with a speed dial for three different power settings.
It also avoids irritating beeping noises when adjusting settings, a feature that will be appreciated by night-time users.
Its stability makes it particularly suitable for parents with young children, as it’s hard to tip over.
Long-lasting HEPA filter
The Sqair houses a HEPA filter that stays effective for at least 6 months. It traps all kinds of pollutants ranging from PM2.5, to dust, smoke, viruses, and bacteria.
The replacement filters are affordable, with the HEPA filter costing THB 690 and the Carbon filter THB 590.
One minor issue we noticed with The Sqair is its lack of a pre-filter to catch larger particles. Users should make it a habit to regularly check the bottom of the filter and dust it off.
No Apps, No Gimmicks
Unlike most other air purifiers available, The Sqair won’t come with any “smart” features, apps, or touchscreens.
It’s a simple air purifier without gizmos. If you like simplicity, The Sqair will be a good fit for you.
Also, the Sqair comes without a built-in PM2.5 reader. Smart Air leaves those out in their entire product range, as tests have shown that built-in sensors are widely inaccurate.
To get the most accurate insights of your air quality we recommend buying an external air quality monitor.

“The Sqair will be your favorite air purifier if you like minimalist design and straightforward devices. It’s a no-frills air purifier that excels in filtering PM2.5, and it won’t empty your wallet.
Xiaomi – Air Purifier 3H
No doubt, the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi’s air purifiers are a big hit in Thailand. The Xiaomi 3H air purifier builds on the success of the hugely popular 2S version, which flew off the shelves during previous pollution seasons. Now, with the new and improved 3H model, users have more to look forward to.
The 3H boasts a more robust fan, taking its Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) up from 310 to 380 cubic meters per hour. This is good enough for rooms up to 50 sqm. The Xiaomi 3H allows users to choose from six different speed modes, giving them the flexibility to tailor the purifier’s performance to current air quality levels. In a modern twist, the 3H has replaced the 2S’s physical buttons with a sleek touchscreen interface. Some people will like it.
Design and Usability
Xiaomi deserves credit for the design of its devices. Not only their air purifiers, but all their products have an appealing and uniform look. The plastic housing is sturdy, and you can change the filter with ease. The machine is easy to tip over. Be aware of this if you have toddlers at home.
You can control the machine manually or with an app. We tried to connect the air purifier to the app but kept getting error messages. Setting the air cleaner up was quite a hassle. The app itself needs improvement. The design seems clunky, and sometimes, Chinese characters pop up, showing that it’s not fully translated.
It’s noisy
The Xiaomi air purifier has a noise level of 64 dB on its highest setting, which is quite loud and comparable to some vacuum cleaners. This makes it one of the loudest air purifiers available on the market. If you are sensitive to noise, this might be an important consideration.
Additionally, the device makes beeping noises when changing modes. While some people might find this feature bothersome, the beeping can be turned off using the accompanying app.
Replacement Filters
Xiaomi’s HEPA filters are usually H13 filters. This means they can filter 99.95% of all particles as small as 0.3 micrometers from the air. This is entirely sufficient to rid the air of fine dust, viruses, bacteria, allergens, etc.
Xiaomi states that the HEPA filters must be replaced every 6 months. Be aware of buying them on Lazada and Shopee. There are many fake versions available that emit weird smells. The price for replacement filters ranges between THB 890 and THB 990.

Xiaomi – Air Purifier 4 Lite
Looking for the latest addition to the air purifier family? The Xiaomi 4 Lite model has arrived, bringing with it some interesting features. Let’s break it down.
The 4 Lite sports a more refined design than its older sibling, the 3H. With a CADR of 360 m³/hr, it’s slightly weaker but still packs a punch. The case structure is different, but other than that, the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Lite shares many similarities with the 3H model. What’s more, it’s more affordable, and, interestingly, it comes with ionizers.
A Little Something Extra: Ionizers
The 4 Lite model has an ionizer function that amplifies the air purifier’s filtration capacity. This explains how such a compact machine can boast such a high CADR. But hold on, as with all shiny things, ionizers come with a catch.
Ionizers can produce ozone, potentially affecting your health. The silver lining? Xiaomi enables you to switch this function off, but you’ll have to connect the unit to the app first.
Since ionizers pull pollutants to surfaces, things can get dirty. Take a look at the Blue Air air purifier below. Notice the grime? That’s the work of ionizers. So, if you’re considering an air purifier with ionizers, be prepared for a little extra cleaning.
Equally noisy as the 3H
The Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Lite doesn’t shy away from making its presence heard. It’s just as loud as the Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H, measuring at least 60 (dB) on high. Trust me, it will catch your attention when running full blast on those smog-filled days. Curious? Check the video below for a taste of what it sounds like.
Replacement Filters
Equipped with H13 filters, the Xiaomi air purifiers ensure 99.95% filtration of particles as small as 0.3 micrometers.
One more thing to keep an eye on: Xiaomi advises replacing the HEPA filters every six months. But be cautious while shopping on Lazada and Shopee. Beware of counterfeit versions emitting odd odors. The genuine replacement filters will set you back between THB 890 and THB 990.

“For fans of smart features and Xiaomi, the 4 Lite is an option. But note, it has an ionizer that could produce ozone and it’s relatively noisy. Be aware before buying.”
Philips – AC1215/20
This Philips model boasts a CADR of 270 m3/hr, which sadly doesn’t match up to the claim of being able to clean spaces as large as 63 sqm. But it’s actually fine for rooms around 30 sqm. The power consumption (50W) is higher than Sqair and Xiaomi.
Functionality-wise, this Philips air purifier doesn’t disappoint. Equipped with both a HEPA and Carbon filter, it’s ready to tackle pollutants and absorb TVOCs from the air. Five-speed settings give you control, although be warned: at 60 dB on the highest setting, it’s no quieter than the Xiaomi air purifier 4 Lite.
The AC1215 comes with a now-standard built-in air quality sensor. These are questionable as they only measure the air right around the device. Xiaomi air purifiers share this flaw. So yes, when it comes to the PM2.5 sensor and auto mode, caution is advised.
Questionable Business Practice
There’s a wrinkle, though. Philips seems to have taken a peculiar path with their replacement filter business. You see, once the filter display calls for a change, the device locks you out. It can’t be switched on. That’s quite frustrating. The cost of replacement filters is relatively high. And there are tons of fake filters lurking on Shopee and Lazada. Be careful.

Air Purifiers for Large Spaces in Thailand
If your room spans more than 40 sqm, standard air purifiers won’t cut it. You’ll either need multiple units or a more powerful model.
In the following section, we’re going to spotlight air purifiers that can handle areas of 80 sqm or more.
So if you aim to purify the air in large spaces like offices, gyms, schools, or hospitals, keep reading—this info is tailor-made for you.
Smart Air – Blast Air Purifier
From Hospitals to Homes
Smart Air’s Blast air purifier is a simple, yet highly powerful air cleaner.
The Blast is commonly used in Asian hospitals. Its large HEPA H13 filter efficiently tackles all kinds of germs and pollutants.
Thanks to a CADR rating of 950 m³/hr, it manages to clean rooms as large as 150 sqm within 25 minutes.
The Blast isn’t just for hospitals—it’s versatile. Gyms find it useful for giving athletes cleaner air during workouts.
It’s also effective in schools and offices. And don’t count it out for home use. If you’re in a spacious condo, the Blast integrates well there too.
Quiet even on the highest setting
The Blast breaks from the norm with its design.
Unlike other air purifiers that vent air through a tiny top outlet, the Blast uses its whole front panel.
This expanded area keeps the unit impressively quiet, even on high.
At that setting, it clocks in at just 43 dB, which is over 25 dB quieter than Xiaomi or Blue Air models.
If you’re noise-sensitive but still want top-notch air purification, the Blast is your go-to. Its unique low-noise feature is unmatched.
Right now, you won’t find a quieter yet effective option on the market in Thailand.
Simple Operation and Filter Change
The Blast keeps it simple—easy to operate and straightforward to maintain. Need to change the filter? Just lift the top and swap it out.
With its hefty size, the filter should last at least 18 months in Thailand. If you want a Carbon filter, you need to purchase it separately.
The Blast’s lockable wheels ease mobility—handy, given its 30+ kg weight. Crafted from metal, this machine is a durable long-hauler.
With the Blast, you get a straightforward three-speed dial, no touchscreen or smart features. But don’t be fooled—when it comes to clean air, it leaves brands like Blue Air, Sharp, and Dyson in the dust.

True to the Smart Air ethos, the Blast Mini is straightforward to use and maintain. The filter replacement process is hassle-free; simply open the top and replace the filter.
The filter’s longevity is impressive, lasting at least 18 months under typical usage in Thailand. For those seeking additional purification, a Carbon filter is available as an optional purchase.
